ALIF Creative Academy

So yeah college started 3 weeks ago.

My very first impression on my classmates – oh my god why are they so quiet?! We were in the Art Studio and no one said a single word. I can actually listen to my own breathing. And other people’s too. There are only 20 people in my class and only 4 of them including me are taking Multimedia Design. Half of them are Interior Architecture students – the most popular course in the college. During breaktime, an Indian girl approached me. I thought I’m saved but that is only the beginning of my nightmare.

Being the only Indian in the class, it’s pretty hard for her to communicate with the others because they don’t speak a single English word. So she sticks real close to me. She seems okay to me until the 2nd week. Here comes the interesting part. She arrives late for every single class – She was on time only on the 2nd day. Yes, she was late on the 1st day as well. Her reason is ridiculous – Nobody is sending her to college. I don’t know if she has heard of ‘public transportation’ before but that’s the most convenient way to get to somewhere. And it seems like she’s not only fashionably late for classes, she doesn’t pass up her works as well. She would forever be the last person to pass up works – a few days or weeks after the dateline. She doesn’t show any sign of regret or guilty. And I’m so pissed off everytime she makes the oh-it’s-very-normal-to-be-late look at my friends and I. The worst thing is, she already ‘booked’ me to be her groupmate for the Moral assignment. I was like,’I'm so going to die this time. What have I done to deserve this?!’ She should really watch out because the first thing I’m going to do if she’s late again in passing up group assignment is to tell the lecturer/principal about it and get my groupmate changed immediately. I’m very concerned about my grades because I don’t want the same thing to happen again.

Back to my clasmates. More than half of them are from other states like Pahang, Johor and Sabah. Sounds like NS doesn’t it? People from all over the country. And I think I’m a bit of a retard. I only know most of them on the 2nd week. You can’t really blame me because it’s very hard for me to communicate with them as well. Actually they are very friendly and nice people. It’s just that I don’t know whether I should speak in English or Chinese when talking to them. I appreciate that one of the guys try to speak in English with me eventhough he’s not good in it. I told them it’s okay that they speak in Chinese, I can understand that. There may be language barrier, but that doesn’t stop me from trying to befriend with them. I don’t want them to treat me differently. They even asked me if I’m from international school. I told them students from international school don’t speak broken English like me. They speak English with slang. xP Overall, I’m okay with them. Nothing negative so far.

Anyway, there’s this lecturer called Koh. He’s teaching us Arts & Crafts. A very interesting subject. We get to do glass painting, lino cutting and stuffs. Koh is a super cool lecturer as well. He’s 40 but he’s acting like a 24-year-old. You can see him in one of the pictures later. There are 2 other subjects, the infamous Moral and Basic Drawing. The Moral lecturer is as boring as the subject. I don’t even want to talk about him. Miss Ong, the lecturer of Basic Drawing is so-so. I like her because she posted both of my drawings on the notice board next to the white board. Muahaha. I’m lying. That’s not true lar. I mean, it’s true that she posted both of my amateur drawings on the notice board so that students from other classes could see it but it’s just because others didn’t put effort in their drawings at all. Not like I put much anyway. I drew them one day before the dateline. But I’m still very happy and proud. =)

I start to go lepak on the 2nd week. But so far we haven’t ponteng class yet. We went to MidValley for movie. And last Thursday, I brought them to Times Square, Sungei Wang and Low Yat Plaza to have a look.

Okay done with the summary about my college.

Last Friday, we went to the KL Railway Station to do some sketching of the KTM Station. It was pretty fun going on a trip with the lecturers and classmates. We had lunch at McDonald’s after that and walked to Central Market. It has been almost a year since I last stepped into Central Market. There are a lot of new sections and shops. It’s not as smelly and stuffy as last time anymore. And taking pictures in front of Central Market would be the last thing I would ever do. But that’s just me. It’s their first time going to Central Market so it’s okay.

It’s the building that we’re going to sketch.

This is the part that I’m going to sketch.

Group photo. See Mr. Koh on the left? xP Miss Ong was the photographer.

In front of the Central Market.

That’s all I can say for the time being. Maybe I’ll post photos of my ‘artworks’ in the future if I’m taking photos of them. It depends on my mood. =)

aiks. a friend like this?
maybe you should try to tell her that she should not behave like that.

if she still continues to, i thikn you should consider to befriend with her.

it might actaully effect your studies as well ler. :X

I don’t know how to tell her. It seems like something very normal to her. Fashionably late, not passing up homeworks. She doesn’t feel anything at all. >.<

I’ll wait til the 1st assignment is given and see whether she’s doing her part or not. Then, I’ll decide what to do with her. xP

Mind I give some opinions.

Why dont just tell her that everyone in the group must work hard for the assignment so that no one will get the group into trouble… in a friendly smiling-face way.

Or just group with others and tell her that you already join other group although she is the one who “booked” you 1st.

But befriend with her is a bit harsh. Why dont just get along with her but dont involve with studies so that you still have her as a friend without interfere your studies.

That is what i think. =)

Haha thanks for your opinions.

The problem is, she just doesn’t freaking care you know. Everything you tell her doesn’t go into her mind at all. She doesn’t even copy the stuffs on the white-board. Because she’s too busy sms-ing her friends. She’ll just borrow yours on the next day or worse, after a few weeks. Ish ish ish. I can’t seem to understand her at all.

Anyway, another group member and I decided to do a back-up for her work just in case she isn’t doing her work on time again. If that’s the case, we’ll use our version of her work and report her to the lecturer. I don’t care if she’s going to hate me for that.

Don’t worry I’m not that bad to ditch her. She still joins us during lunchtime and all.
